And it’s not like I’m Jewish or a leftist; surely the brownshirt leopards won’t eat my face

Conservatives are the good cops to the fascists’ bad cops.

“You know people with age usually grow out of liberalism. Oh, you’re soon to be 33? Great age to convert to Christianity, I’m giving you my pastor’s phone number!” vs “I’m going to throw you out of a helicopter you godless communist heathen!”

“Just work harder, then maybe you get a promotion or something, so you won’t be living under poverty line, otherwise those who suffer more will enter God’s kingdom.” vs “Oh, you’re just like [currently hated minority] for not wanting to work you communist, welfare queen, leech!”

“What if you regret your lifestyle choices? What if at 35 you realize you wanted a lot of children, and so you instead want a heterosexual relationship? What if you influence a young child to do so? I’m not hating you, I’m just concerned about your and others’ mental well being.” vs “Die $!@” proceeds to beat you up

This is how I feel about leftists who join ostensibly “centre-left” parties, in countries that don’t use FPTP.

Like the “Labor Left” wing of the Labor Party in Australia. Guys, you’d be doing so much better work in the Greens.

Hell, even in FPTP in countries like Canada with a third, equally viable party not voting for what you want is a bit of a waste. If you don’t show your support then the next election has the chance to go even deeper into the fake two-party system.

It’s your voice. In many ways it’s your only voice and there is no nuance so you must be clear.

The greens standing in the way of the HAFF showed me exactly what they are.

Willing to play politics on a demonstrably good piece of policy just so they can crow about how leftist they are while denying people housing.

No I won’t be joining anytime soon.

Sorry, by “standing in the way of” you mean “pushing for improvements to…and succeeding”? That “standing in the way”?

That’s absolute hilarity. More ridiculous than when Laborites criticise their actions regarding Rudd’s climate policy. Because at least that one appears to be a valid critique of the Greens if you don’t have all the details (like how Rudd’s policy would have no reduction in greenhouse emissions for 25 years). But this? Even with the most cursory of looks, the Greens did the right thing here.

Can’t agree more, the HAFF was and frankly still is weak. All Labor has to do is pull some of the $14.5 billion in fossil fuel subsidies and they could easily build a ton of housing right now…

Or that a better climate policy came only a few years later but they have somehow memory holed the whole thing. Yes, Abbott tore the whole thing up but I’d wager he would have took an axe to Rudd’s policy too.

I actually don’t know much about him except that he’s now the Führleader of the SD and supposedly a “moderate.”

The problem I have with conservatives claiming to be moderates is that even the ones who believe murdering minorities and leftists is a legitimate political platform think that they’re “moderates”. Must be something to do with conservatives being spineless fucks.

Åkesson joined SD when it was openly a Nazi party to “change it from the inside.” Could not be more like the comic. All he got them to do was update the rhetoric. If there was another panel of the comic, all of the same people would be there but they just wouldn’t be wearing the uniforms anymore and he’d be sitting there all smug saying “mission accomplished.”

Yep, everyone claims to be a “moderate” when it suits them, especially the far right. Like Åkesson they realise the optics are bad and put on a nice suit while supporting the same horrendous shit they always did

Åkesson was a nazi, distributing nazi propaganda in the streets before be went with SD. Sure he went there being a not-a-nazi…

Maybe le pen shows the way, try to fake some populistic show until in power?
