Fuck Discord
My community is generally on the narcissistic side, and I’ve tried using Discord twice and both times it was like a sewer for the mind. So I have no interest in either. It is kind of vindicating to see others in this thread don’t like Discord either. Sometimes it seems like the whole frigging world is on there.
Why the hell would I want to:

My city has more than one. They are really useful at times, but some folks (like me) prefer forums where time seperation is the norm (like we have here on Lemmy). So I rarely use Discord.

You could say it has one of those.
Well, they might have a lobby or chatroom provided by discord. But discord’s servers are hosted in datacenters of their own choosing. With a little research, you might be able to determine if any of these are physically located within your town.
Or have they finally changed things and now distribute binaries for people to host their own discord instances with?
