    They will make it twice as costly to repair stuff yourself and be technically “supportive” of self-repair. In 5 years they can then shut down the program because people just don’t do self-repair, you know?

      How would they make it more expensive to fix yourself, except by offering repairs for an absurdly low price, like less than the cost of the components?

      People not repairing is just icing on the cake! They can leave the kits available at exorbitant prices and say “SEE! We’re champions of your rights!” in perpetuity.
