I read an interview with a 102 year old, she was 12 when the Nazis rose to power and 25 when she was liberated from Theresienstadt.

And in 80 years we’ll be doing it again… “never again” my ass.

Soon we’re going to be ran out of everyone who was alive that served WWII. There are no more Civil War and even WWI veterans to help remember. Once the last WW2 veteran is gone, everyone will forget (if they hadn’t already, it’s been 80 years or closing on to it). Then we’ll be off on people who think they know how it all went and the re-writing of history will commence.

There are no WW1 survivors around, no one has forgotten about that.

We have people alive during this and there are currently multiple genocides going on.

Everything you’ve said is straight up wrong.

Yes I’m terrible because I don’t find an almost 80 year old event newsworthy compared to genocide occurring today.

I can only hope you feel that strongly about the Palestians being genocided that your government is throwing under the bus to support Israel for.

Last month was the 86th Anniversary of the Beijing massacre, one part of a genocide against millions of Chinese. You had an anniversary event to commemorate them, right? Or are you a terrible person and a massive hypocrite?

I knew comments here would be terrible, but you managed to limbo even under my extremely low expectations. Well done.

There’s no need to downplay the significance of past genocides just because of present-day genocides. Remembering the past is important: it’s no coincidence that fascism is on the rise again just when most of the people who remember living through it in Europe are gone. Remembering is necessary if we are to learn from the past, but it doesn’t guarantee we will, as Israel’s actions today show.

Im not downplaying it anymore than you are when you don’t make news of the anniversary of the Beijing massacre.

If remembering is so important to you, why aren’t you also remembering them?

What im doing is exactly the same as you do to every other genocide from the past.

What is stopping you from remembering or orginazing a ceremony? Orginaze one or participate in a ceremony of your choice. Don’t be bitter because people remember this specific holocaust. It is important.

If you’re talking to me, where do you get the idea that I’m not remembering that? Plenty of people make a big noise about it every year. But it feels like you’re trying to change the subject.

So you’re telling me every year on December 13th you celebrate the victims of genocide in China?

                Bullshit you do.
