Elden Ring & Resident Evil 6!
Elden Ring: Man this game is so long but fun. I just can’t help myself playing this game everywhere. Somehow getting my ass kicked, and winning a fight or two time to time, kills time so efficiency.
RE6: Despite it’s bad rep, it’s a really good game for couch coop on a TV. The performance was great, and just really enjoyable when laughing at bugs & absurd writing with friends.
720p upscaled to 1080 looks really good, and is a nice balance for performance.
Some TV don’t play nice with the fps caps, try uncapping the framerate if you don’t mind some fps fluctuations.
Rock&Stone btw.
I can only speak for Wii emulation, it works great.
OLED deck have excellent Bluetooth compatibility with WiiMotes, I can hook up 4 of them using emulated bluetooth mode. (Can’t get passthru mode working tho)
Some configuration beforehand such as changing all four controller slots into “real WiiMote” & enable continues scanning is all you need to do.
Just a side note. Switching between handheld and docked mode is a dull process. In order to switch input source you have to go to desktop mode every time.
The Elden Ring one actually isn’t so rare. It feels more like a 10%. Every time I boot up the game I half expect it to crash.
Really cool! Love to see some modding. And wow, that full kit of IFixIt.
Dead By Daylight! This game is very comfortable at low wattage. 45Fps @7w all low. The deck basically turn DBD into bite sized excitements.
Bought an OLED model for 6 months. I still use it for 60% of my game time.
Sure, 40% of the time I need to have online experience with friends (Fps games / long gaming session), or the games simply don’t feel right on The Deck.
But being able to use it everywhere is just so nice( friend’s place / sitting in garden / on my bed). Plus, I regularly use it as a mini TV, watching YT and Netflix on it.
It’s surprising they’ve paid for an anti-tamper for THAT long, instead of spending those money to keep updating the game.
Using the Tomtok ultra slim carrying case. It feels very close to the NS’s one , and make carrying it much less of a chore.
Would like to try out the Killswitch, but I remember it takes the place of grip case too (Meaning I can’t use other grip cases).
I agree. Context matters!
The bigger/closer the screen is the more you’ll be discomforted by low fps.
Different genre of games feels different. (Fixed camera games are less likely to dizzy you compared to FPS)
I found that input method plays a role too. M&K or Gyro input will feel sluggish in low fps. Wile pure stick inpit might be fine.
I can see this method useful for Wii games that utilize pointers!
OMG This is so much quicker, Thanks!
Super Tux Kart and MineTest. Both are on fdroid and have amazing modding capabilities . I will say modding them is part of the fun too.
Do you mean feeling dizzy? Keep the FPS >= 60(you can try to push for 75), and increaseing the fov might help.
Also keep a good 30+cm between eye and deck. I too often found myself sticking my eyes to the screen when really engaged. That cause a lot of dizziness. 🤘 and 🪨
Been playing a lot of Deep Rock Galatic! The deck is surprising good at handling FPS games. And the performance is very good.( mostly 60fps @10 watt. Gpu pinned 1100Mhz)
Played a lot less single player game than I expected tho.
Huge thanks for the fixes!
First I tried changing accounts(With ethernet). No luck there, steam deck ended up showing “Issue connecting with Valve servers”
Then I tried reverting to previous Steam OS partition .
And I goofed 😂, I failed to mention that my Deck is a fairly new one (Yes I encountered this problem twice within 3 weeks). So the last version was literally the factory setup/out of the box one. Ended up wiping my steam data(Tried going back to previous A and B, both resulted in factory setup screen).
The good news is that desktop side of things seems to be right where they were (even emulator saves!), and getting gaming mode back on track will be speedy.
A shame I can’t experiment with more potential solutions(Getting resetted does the job), but my takeaway is that.
【Unless you absolutely need the insurance offline mode provides, or else just turning off wifi (even using airplane mode when needed) will be a much safer bet. Whatever offline mode did to Valve related connections, isn’t totally bugfree and have chances of failing.】
I think it just mean you blocked/restricted these app’s internet access.
