I have an Apple TV (4k 2nd) that I use to play Spotifty on my HomePod. But every few songs (I cannot seem to find a pattern to it) it goes silent. It is not buffering, you can see the music is still playing. If I play on my iphone, ipad, or Macbook and air play to the homepod it does not seem to happen, just the Apple TV. I just tried reinstalling the Spotify app and it is still happening.

Has anyone had experience fixing this? Or have ideas for a remedy?

Are you running any form of adblocking in your network? Pi-hole etc?

Question is, is it the home pod’s connection to the ATV, a bug in the Spotify ATV app, or a bug with the ATV itself.

This is what I would check:

    • play music on a different music app to see if the problem still occurs
    • play music on the Spotify app, but through the TV’s speakers.

If it looks like Spotify’s app is the problem, then you’ll need to file a bug report with them. If it looks like the AppleTV is pausing any music to the home pod, I would factory reset the HomePod by holding down on the top button for 10 seconds. If it looks the like AppleTV is pausing any music to any audio source, I would restart and or factory reset the AppleTV.

I have spent the day in chat with Spotify, it appears uninstalling the app, shutting down my entire network, & my Apple TV, then reinstalling the app might just have worked. Now to see if it still works once I reconnect my 4x4 matrix.
