Well my father did this and it worked. He was threatened with a knife and they said he should give his wallet. he got so nervous he started laughing really loud and said no. And the robber did not know how to respond to that and left.

It worked, but he was really lucky, I think. He could have been killed. Doing this is still a really shitty life pro tip.
