I think Lemmy is a good foothold for activitypub. Reddit has been going to shit for some time and their userbase is tech savvy enough to actually migrate to something like Lemmy in significant enough numbers for it to matter.

The mis-characterization of feminists into “feminazis” started with Anita Saarkesian. I remember gamers coming after her hard during gamergate for literally no reason at all. If you go back and watch old Feminist Frequency episodes she wasnt saying anything insane at all. They were all solidly rational observations about the way women were portrayed in games.

Eventually they had the music purchasing equivalent of Redbox in the form of kiosks as well with the advent of recordable Net-MD minidiscs, which only really ever saw success in Japan.
