Normally I’m quite harsh on these things but there are extenuating circumstances here. UEFA were making changed to FFP during the middle of covid with no knowledge of exactly what the next few years would hold. Expecting clubs to keep up with unexpected changes when they might have front weighted their allowed FFP losses etc. is a challenge.
UEFA aren’t perfect with FFP rule breaches but its not like they haven’t attempted to ban many large clubs from Europe before.
Not only Leonardo Bonucci. Juventus also told Weston McKennie that he’s NOT part of the plans.
McKennie will not work together with the first team and won’t travel for the USA pre season tour.

Perhaps its partly a FFP thing for Man Utd. In addition to the owner issues, their inability to sell anyone at a decent price must affect their transfer budget too.
I think its just mainly the price. There’s not many clubs who pay £80m+ and even less who have an opening in central midfield.
Arsenal tried in January but the price was too high, Real were focussed on Bellingham, PSG went with the Sporting guy and Man City dont need him, so its pretty much only Chelsea and Man Utd left who’d pay silly money (other than Saudi clubs).
Vid bot guy back again…
It might be best to switch it off for a week or so. It’s difficult to troubleshoot any bot issues when it seems like lemmy.world and the API are having their own issues every day. I’ll try to leave it running in a test community for longer and if it runs fine and then bring it back here.
@skipseagull@lemmy.world if its easier for you to make @Football_Vid_Bot@lemmy.world a mod then I should (hopefully) be able to make it sticky/unsticky itself automatically every day for each new highlights post.
Why do they only play for two and a half months a year?
He played very well for the Israeli national team the 2/3 times I’ve saw him.
Didn’t watch much of him at Fulham though. Seems that he was decent there last season too.
It might take a few days to get the goal bot working again btw.
Tried last night but it wasn’t posting the links as comments. Unsure if lemmy.world going down had any effect on another issues that came up too.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they delay the kit reveal a week or so if they are close to finding a sponsor.
I feel like that would miss a lot of important goals. A last minute winner for a smaller team lower down the table or an important international team goal that qualifies a team to the WC for the first time should be posted somewhere imo.
I’d also like to have the bot set up so that I don’t have to mess with it too often. When teams rise and fall in the table people will want this teams goals posted and not that teams etc.
I agree that it should be changed somehow before August comes around. Opinions seemed mixed when the bot started so I didn’t want to unilaterally change anything.
Potential options:
For those in the UK.

I like this one. Reminds me of the medals they used to give to you as a kid at football tournaments (Not that I’ve got many).
He wants to leave and I don’t think Arsenal are going to stop him.
Juve and a Saudi Arabian club are the rumoured interested parties.
It looks on r/soccer for any post with the media flair. There’s no goal highlight flair unfortunately so there are filters to remove images, gifs, youtube, v.redd.it and posts without numbers in the title. Some non goal vids will slip through (and some missed penalties/sendings off could be missed with the numbers filter).
Worth saying that r/soccer looks the same as here with goal vids everywhere when Europe is asleep. They maybe had one or two posts in between. It’s the same on a Saturday afternoon/busy midweek night. I could try and filter out some posts/teams until the sub grows a bit but not sure how.
I don’t understand a single line of the python script fwiw. This is all just me asking bing chat how to do it and keeping my fingers crossed that it works.
Edit: One option could be that between roughly 11pm - 10am in Europe (~6pm - 5am EST), a megathread is created and goals are posted there as individual comments instead. This way goals on non European continents aren’t completely ignored. Still negatives attached to that option though. Most of this sub will probably be North American and happy to see all the goals posted from the Americas.
Yeah, forgot about that. Will try and add that in the body of the post.
Can’t say I really get Havertz playing deeper but Mikel obviously knows his stuff and sees potential there.
Its inevitably going to take a while for the midfield to gel though.
There is a premier league representative on the FA board fwiw.
It’s possible there will be some more changes coming then if they’re pushing through everything before the regulator is operating fully.
It seems like they’re going to be changing a decent amount if their starters in one window. With Xhaka and Partey potentially leaving presumably they need to sign another midfielder in addition to Rice?
Timber, Rice, Havertz minimum as new starters.
So on the same day that Tuchel says we can’t discuss Kane, the Bayern president decides to openly talk about…Kane.
Don’t think this will help Bayern much tbh.
