When I was still watching Gus I found him incredible funny but just to remind everyone that he treated his then Girlfriend like shit.

I agree.
To get content from other servers in your main feed you just have to subscribe to the community you want to see the content from. If you are using the website go to “Communities” located at the top bar. When you use the app there should be also a button called “communities” or similar. On the website by default only communities of your own server are shown so select “All” at the top left. Then just select a community you like and press subscribe.
I don’t like it as well. People have to realize that Lemmy needs active members who are NOT part of the Nerd/tech bubble because they bring in a other type of content. I don’t know enough about the feediverse protocols to know wether it’s possible but what would help is if there where something like grouped communities consisting of multiple communities which are all about the same topic. Then you could search for e.g. “Cats” and it’s shows you this grouped community which subscribes you to all cat content. I know that there are web based tools which already do a similar thing for a transfer from Reddit to Lemmy but those Groups would have to be integrated into Lemmy itself to be user friendly.
I’ma get hate for this but I’m not pirating out of principle but when I think something it’s to expensive for it’s price. I live in a country with good salaries and have to work less than one hour for one month of endless music. To me that is a good deal but I am aware that it is not to everyone especially those from other countries. I mostly pirate Movies and TV Shows because you would need to pay over 50€/month to get access to all services.
While it is sad that the terms meaning has changed to something so disgusting: It is what is now. It makes no sense now to act like it still has the old meaning but I agree that it is a good idea to think about the topic as a whole.
