Rules for thee but not for me
I’ve been playing around with it in a VM and thinking of throwing over my old Windows drive I haven’t used in months to see how well it works on my actual hardware.
Getting Pipewire setup on it has been a pain in VM and all the fixes others posted online haven’t helped me.
I had an original fat model PSP in white and that thing never looked truly clean after the first week no matter how hard I tried! It put me off buying white electronics ever since.
People who insist on having all white everything scare me.
I ain’t gonna say it’s as easy as Windows but I personally haven’t had too much trouble running cracked games using the Lutris launcher.
Lutris also lets you show logs by right click on the game, So if you get an error while playing or loading it gives you something to look up.
Also you can ask for help over at /c/linuxcracksupport@lemmy.world
Welcome to the club!
That was kinda my experience as well when I ran vanilla Arch for a bit, First day was just finding and installing stuff that already came on Endeavour.
After I had an SSD issue had to switch to another drive I didn’t really see grabbing regular Arch again as worth the extra hassle.
Not only that but the original mixes of albums often don’t get put on streaming platforms because of licensing bullshit or whatever.
And especially for rock and metal the newer remasters of popular albums tend to be pretty bad and overly compressed or have weird post EQ added.
I got it to run for one single match and I haven’t had any luck since.
Either the game crashes when loading into a match or I get an anti cheat error.
(Update) I got it to work for one more game by using Winetricks to install pdh.dll but after that game it just started crashing again…
What card you using? I have a RTX 3080 and it’s worked fine on Endeavour/KDE (besides Wayland)
Windows 10 LTSC 2021 edition has support until January 13th 2032.
I’d obviously prefer if more people gave Linux a try but if you’re literally forced to use Windows then it’s probably your best option right now.
‘It’s not fair that we keep getting scammed and others don’t’
So just don’t give them money next time?
‘LALALALA I can’t hear you, it’s your fault not mine LALALALA’
Audio on screen share doesn’t work on the vanilla client
Have you been able to update the flatpak version yet? I also get the pop-up when launching Vesktop telling me there’s an update. But when I when I try update through flathub it says I’m on the newest version already.
Yeah same here I got zero tolerance with spyware/telemetry and it’s one of the main reasons I switched to Linux in the first place.
Do I believe KDE would misuse my data? Nope not really but it’s not something I want to promote no matter how anonymized the data is or how nicely they ask.
Same rule goes for any project even ones I’ve donated money to.
I remember one Christmas dinner one of my aunties asked about iCloud and how are they “storing pictures n stuff inside clouds now?” (physical clouds!)
Everyone immediately looks at me and most of them probably didn’t believe me when I said it’s just a marketing term for storing your data on a companies “computer”/server.
My family is mostly tech illiterate, but still call me paranoid when I tell them the actual truth behind the tech they’re putting their trust in.
That was my backup plan but was hoping for a better solution. Thanks anyway :)
I use uBlock but every now and then Twitch ads start slipping through, They normally go back to being blocked with the next uBlock update.
It’s a real cat and mouse game.
Even tho I don’t own a Steamdeck seeing all games I want running on it is what got me to give Linux a serious go.
I’m now considering grabbing one of the older LCD models 2nd hand since I’m away from my PC a lot more lately. Last portable gaming device I owned was a PSP!
Honestly the only people I try to “convert” to Linux are my friends who already hate Windows, which is most of them these days.
Sadly a lot of them either still regularly use programs we can’t get running on Linux yet (okay it’s mostly Fortnite…). Or they’re not the most tech literate people and switching to a whole new OS seems like an impossible task.
Only gotten two peeps on board the Linux train and they both had previous experience with it from school or work.
I’m sadly aware…which is another reason why I try go straight to the band/artist first.
I’ve been using it for years just to translate my PS4 controller to Xbox so it works with most games
