Wow, it’s only 52%? That’s so disheartening

FE2 is my 35mm camera of choice, good taste! Though to be honest, i rarely shoot film and when I do it’s usually 645 on my Mamiya
Isn’t that how we got the national treasure that is Rachel Maddow?
I’ve seen it reported that if you count plea bargains as convictions, which is much closer to how Japan calculates conviction rate, that the US conviction rate is essentially the same as the Japanese one.
I was young when this episode came out and it absolutely terrified me. I still find it scary to the point where I’ll turn it off sometimes when it comes on. Great ep though, and Janeway is a badass.
Yes, but that’s the cost of being considerate
In Hawaii every county did it independently around 10 years ago. Some counties have done it better than others. I don’t think I’ve had a single plastic bag on the big island in that entire time, but when I’m on Oahu I occasionally get them (for example the Apple Store thicker plastic bags that are “reusable”—somewhat true).
I don’t see people treating reusable bags as disposable, but it’s also completely acceptable here to just bring a cart full of stuff unbagged from target to your car here if you didn’t bring bags (groceries people will get paper if they forgot). I don’t think that’s as acceptable other places.
I fucking love rice. Sometimes I scoop some rice out of my rice cooker and eat it straight off the paddle. It’s also great with other things!
FYI, We know the way is in Samoan and Tokelauan.
Fun fact, Disney worked with the University of Hawaii on a Hawaiian language dub of the movie and Auili’i Cravalho voiced Moana in that version as well. I watch it on occasion to practice my very poor Hawaiian language skills.
Apparently Everest is 157 miles tall?
SHOUTING_SNAKE_CASE aka SCREAMING_SNAKE_CASE is the best case for all use cases, because it gives you a chance to use its wonderful names.
To be fair, I support free healthcare, including gender affirming care, for absolutely everyone. Which means, yes, I do want to do transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison. Not the top of my priority list, but a win’s a win.
Put a different way, republicans have only won the popular vote for president once since the 1980s.
I’ve been sent dick pics before, but being a lesbian they were very unwelcome. If someone sent me a painting of their boobs, though, yep—seems like that would work.
Am gay; can confirm.
To me, having a strong opinion means I have thought about the problem space enough to understand what I believe are the important aspects and what optimizes them. Remembering to hold them weakly in the light of previously unconsidered or under appreciated arguments prevents me from becoming overly rigid.
Make it work, then make it work right.
And it’s companion for understanding how things came to be- every complex working system invariably developed from a simple working system
Have strong opinions that are weakly held.
Don’t let “perfect” be the enemy of “good”
Now that I think about it, my principles like my life may be all about engineering…
Not at all, I really like Boromir’s story, but that’s why I’m surprised. I feel like his development got a lot of attention, and even though Faramir was around for longer in the story, he never seemed quite as prominent to me. I guess that duration made up for the attention boromir got early on, though.
Sure, that’s why I qualified with “for its intended purpose”. It’s not a great classroom map but it is perhaps the most historically important projection. The problem is this idea of “Mercator bad” has entered public consciousness. For example, the start of this thread mentioned “how not-great the mercator is” without any such qualifications.
I’m very hopeful for flow batteries to improve to a point where they can be very cheaply installed at scale. Seems much better environmentally than lithium ion, and the drawbacks matter less for grid storage.
