Thank you. It’s been over a month and still haven’t quite got my head round the fediverse!
It’s not lemmy as a whole is it? I thought the main url is lemmy.org. It’s only a couple of instances that used .ml.
The noise cancelling headphones I had in my basket, waiting for the prime day sale, had an amazing 90p discount on them. Yay.
Good for you! I wish you both happiness.
Congratulations on your engagement!
As I sit here happy and secure in my own relationship, I’m inclined to say I’d rather be single than online date. But if I actually found myself single before I’m even 40 I suspect I’d change my mind eventually - that’s a lot of life left to go through alone. And the only way I’d be likely to meet someone would be online, so needs must.
Online dating is very much the norm. I have no idea how I’d meet a new partner without it (if I was in the market for one).
It’s been a while since I used them for my MacBook but from what I remember they’ll pair with whatever you last had them paired with. So if you’re switching between listening on your phone and your laptop you have to manually put them in pairing mode, turn off your WiFi, or forget device. Sony headphones are geared towards listening on your phone though - you can’t adjust the eq settings or anything when they’re connected to your laptop.
I’m looking at getting a new pair of Sony in ear buds (mine are over the ear) because I’m allergic to my AirPods. The reviews of the link buds said they could be simultaneously connected to two Bluetooth devices and switch more easily between them.
Is that a recent bug? I have a MacBook, AirPods and Sony headphones. My AirPods will auto connect to my MacBook when I open them but my Sony headphones never do. And the AirPods only connect when the laptop is open and on and I’m not playing sound on my iPhone. Maybe you need to reset/update your software?
I found a decent alternative to Goodreads the other day called bookdigits. It’s a mobile app but pretty good. It has a sister site called screendigits.com for movies and films.
Vk.com has a surprising amount of audiobook pages/groups/communities. There are some chrome plugins that download the books for you too. I’m not particularly tech savvy so vk.com and sites like 101audiobooks.net classicaudiobooks.com etc and overdrive are what I use on mobile. I use audiobookbay on desktop.
You’re not sorry and I’m not offended. There’s no need for fake platitudes on the internet.
Are you neurodivergent by any chance? Aside from smokers getting extra work breaks, the things you’re complaining about are not mildly infuriating, they’re other people’s personal choices that don’t impact your ability to do your job. They’re examples of completely normal experiences that nearly everyone has to deal with - mild annoyances at best. You don’t get to police what people do on their breaks. You don’t get to police what people do to their bodies. You don’t get to police what language people use when talking amongst themselves.
If you’re so offended by bad language and music, wear some noise cancelling headphones on your break. That will have to added bonus of stopping people from talking to you at all, so you can get that decompression time you need in order to do your job properly. You should definitely start taking your own non-smoking smoke breaks if your boss/HR won’t address the issue of smokers getting additional break time.
Focus on the things that you can change to make your work environment more palatable because that’s all you can control. And try not to be so judgemental. You may not say it out loud but I’m positive your colleagues can feel your distain for them, and that won’t help foster a mutually respectful environment at all. Good luck.
You sound fun.
Lmao! Do you call tea and coffee drinkers “drug addicts” too?! Yup, smoke breaks should either be deducted from the allotted lunch break, or all employees should be allowed to step outside for 5 mins or whatever.
OP added context. Their work colleagues relax on their breaks in a different way than OP does and this is the end of the world apparently. Everyone must sit in silence, no music, no swearing, no smoke breaks. I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that OP isn’t exactly well liked by their colleagues…
I’m missing something… what about this photo makes your coworkers terrible?
Edit and it never happened 😉
A 3k a month what?
It’s in the sidebar under “fallback” or something like that.
Unfortunately the person who replied must have missed it.
