i’ve been forcing myself out there to try and break this same mindset/pattern (hobby meetups, political orgs, etc, just anything to feel less solipsistic and isolated in my anhedonic mind-shell), but that itself is a slow grind to build those connects and find the people you really bond with. and it (in the case of organizing) involves taking on extra labor (and extra social labor even for more hobby shit).

i feel ya comrade, there’s no easy answers or short cuts. i’m also lucky to live in a relatively populous and walkable city, not everyone gets that luxury.

alluded to the political/geopolitical themes in the background of my new project at the writers meetup and almost got roped into talking about the election with those libs it’s crazy how quickly imperialist talking points got deployed too when i mentioned that my work is set against a backdrop of potentially looming nuclear war (DPRK and Russia bad, etc etc etc) i should just pretend i’m totally apolitical every four years to dodge this shit

as a creative writer, every now and again using “slop” as a shorthand for all/most media should/does bother me a little but otoh that shit is so fuckin funny and the grains of truth in it are too big for me to ever stop saying it, that and “treats” still never fail to tickle me
