For ebooks in particular, owning what you buy isn’t that difficult though. You can legally buy DRM protected epubs in a lot of online book stores and then use the software calibre (open source) to strip the DRM. Much easier than with music, movies or software.

I‘d recommend the software calibre. Great for managing your ebook library and it can convert epub into amazons azw, mobi or kfx formats (depending on which generation kindle you have). With the right plugin you can even create WordWise data for your kindle-converted ebooks.

You don’t even necessarily need to illegally download the books, as calibre can also handle the DRM of .ebub books you bought from almost any store. Of course, sailing the seven seas is still always an option though.

Hm, maybe. Where I lived, your chances were low if you’re a nerd and/or looking for something serious. Like, most people on tinder were the exact same crowd you‘d also meet in clubs. But it also wasn’t a particularly big town and most people on tinder in my age range were university students from the less nerdy faculties…

Tinder is the worst possible way to get to meet people, unless you’re at least a 9/10 guy or a woman who just wants to hook up, nothing more. At least that’s been my experience, both using the app and talking to friends who have. Meaningful connections are rare.

The game’s not different. But the launcher is missing some features and also, it’s not just a launcher but a store and some percentage of the money you pay for the game goes to them. And if you don’t want to give Epic Games money (which would be fair, considering their relations with for example tencent), buying a game there is out of the question.

Makes sense. English isn’t my first language and even in my first language (German), I couldn’t tell you how they’re called. Most people just call them double busses or accordion busses.

Yea. The bus I take when I go to vocational school is one of those long double busses with bellows in the middle. If you get there at the wrong time, it’s packed to the point the doors won’t close. It has like 50 seats or so alone and at least the same amount of people standing, if not more. It’s crazy how many people you can squish in a single bus. Luckily the ride is only like 10min because it does get uncomfortably full at times.

Also, as a nice extra, the busses are fully electric, also.

Really? I hated SourceTree. It was the reason why I switched to GitKraken in the first place. Haven’t needed to use git in a few years now but especially when dealing with conflicts, GitKraken was just infinitely superior and sourcetree annoyingly barebones.

The point isn’t that we shouldn’t strive to improve those points but that it’s utopic. Accidents happen. Ectopic pregnancies, etc. can’t be solved by medication. And even if everybody who doesn’t want kids was on birth control, they don’t work 100% of the time. Also, humans are stupid so someone will forget or skip birth control for the thrill of it. And as much as I‘d like for rape not to be something that happens, humans are also assholes and while you might be able to reduce that, you can’t eliminate that entirely without mind controlling everybody.

Solving this, if it’s not completely impossible, might as well be.

That isn’t to say that we shouldn’t work on this. There’s always room to improve and ideally no one who wants to have a baby should have to lose it and no one who doesn’t want a child should need abortion to avoid having one. However, there should always be the possibility because there will always be some cases, even if they’re extremely rare. Life’s messy and humans are unpredictable.

More than 60fps doesn’t matter for a lot of people though. A lot of console gamers play on TV and only high end TVs have higher refresh rates anyways, so those people would prefer higher resolution and nicer graphics settings to more fps.

I’m a PC gamer and even I don’t own a single high refresh rate display, for example, because I usually play slower paced story based games. While I enjoy 120+ Hz, my priorities lie with UHD and HDR, as long as I get close to 60fps. And most PS5 games already support performance modes with 60-ish fps on the base model console albeit without all the possible eye candy.

That sadly isn’t true everywhere. Here in Germany (and I suspect large parts of the EU) downloading/streaming copyrighted content without license used to be a grey area but has been completely illegal for a few years now.

Of course, VPNs are perfectly legal.
