  • In my opinion, the bottom toolbar should be reserved for most frequently used navigation.

Settings shouldn’t be something that is prominent. Once the user have configured the app to their liking, they should only occasionally visit the settings page.

I agree that settings should go to the navigation pane on the left, just like in Eternity.

As for the profile page, I think it is good as is, and not sure about the benefits of adding a panel on the right. My suggestion is to make use of the empty space (see circled) and move the logout/manage account buttons there. Add labels to the buttons as they are not entirely intuitive.

  • I disagree.

    • Mbin’s terminology (inherited from Kbin) is annoying. Thread vs post vs magazine, boost vs upvote etc are unconventional and annoying.
    • No default sort option. Every time I want to see new posts, I have to manually select “new”
    • User instance and community instance are hidden
    • Difficult to manage/view subscribed magazines
    • Image upload dialogue is confusing

Lemmy has alternative UI such as Voyager and Photon, they are way ahead of Mbin in terms of look and feel.

What do you like about Mbin’s UX?

  • I am quite interested in what Google and Apple will do about their voice assistant devices. The New Siri appears to be quite useful, if it can actually do what we saw in WWDC. But Apple hasn’t mentioned anything about the HomePods.

Google Home/Nest has been stuck with the dumb version of Google Assistant, and has been getting worse. It has no integration with any other Google services, and there was no mention of Home/Nest in Google I/O.

If either HomePod or Nest gets released without requiring subscriptions, I might move away from Alexa devices.
