  • It’s Magic! Fou Fri 08 Nov 2024

    • Brush: Zenith 506B MB (27 mm × 51 mm Manchurian badger)
    • Razor: Eversharp-Schick Hydro-magic (I2, NOS)
    • Blade: Personna Injector Blade
    • Lather: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! - Heather
    • Post Shave: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! - Heather
    • Fragrance: Spearhead Shaving Company Seaforth! - Heather

I’ve planned a run through all Spearhead scents over the next few days (It’s going to be a trickholecentric week for me), and I’m starting with soft, powdery Heather. Looking at my tower of Spearhead tubs, I’m a bit taken aback by how many of them were absolute hits for me. My least favourite one is Roman Spice, and I really like that one too 😄. I remember my first use of Heather was also my first time competing in the Lather Games four years ago. Good memories. This scent manages to be green and lively without any of the sharp edges of a Fougère Classique, Brut, or Varen. Just happy, butter smooth, vernal green.

Today’s shave was a bit too early for my taste, so using a childproof extra mild Hydro-magic was fitting. The slightly scrubby Manchurian knot in this Zenith is perfection. No notes.

  • It’s so fucked up. I expected it, but still had hope for a surge in women voters or a silent moderate conservative vote or something (I know, naive). What really hurts is that not only did he get elected, but it looks like he might have gotten even the popular vote this time around.

I read SMS’s messages earlier today and you’re right. But I also worry about the international impact. I have good friends in Palestine and a few Ukrainian colleagues, and I’m so worried about how the next four years might do irreparable harm to them and their families.

  • DEux for Twosdays 05 Nov 2024

    • Brush: Zenith - 506 N XS (extra soft horse)
    • Razor: Wolfman WR2 (1.55 mm SB / 1.25 mm OC)
    • Blade: Polsilver
    • Lather: Noble Otter — Thé Noir et Vanille
    • Post Shave: Noble Otter — Thé Noir et Vanille

Delightful evening shave with Thé Noir et Vanille. This was by first love-on-first-sniff soap and was instrumental in my descent down the rabbit hole. I couldn’t believe that I had completely missed the category of delightful smelling shave gear and went on a rampage for a while there. Good times.

  • First of all, I love it and I’m in (of course).

Now the big caveat: the winner will be the participant with the deepest den. Good? Bad? IDK.

    Now the minor caveat:

    LatherBot shenanigans:

    1. How about taking the last soap before the deadline instead of the first after? That solves the “Latherbot dead for a few hours” problem.
    2. Let’s add “not on the dnb list” as qualifier: The last soap from a soaper not on the dnb list chosen by LatherBot. It doesn’t make sense IMO, (and also doesnt add fun, which should be the main objective) to have everyone burn their Mulligan on PAA

  • DE for Twosdays 05 Nov 2024

    • Brush: Zenith - 506 N XS (extra soft horse)
    • Razor: Wolfman WR2 (1.55 mm SB / 1.25 mm OC)
    • Blade: Polsilver
    • Lather: Noble Otter – 茉莉綠茶
    • Post Shave: Gentleman’s Nod – Musahi
    • Fragrance: Giorgio Armani – Thé Yulong

Delicious tea accords for this very early morning shave. Noble Otter’s tea scents really resonate with me, and 茉莉綠茶 filled a hole I didn’t know my den had. The base isn’t the most forgiving to lather well, but the extra soft Zenith horse is perfect for these situations. The fat horse hair bristles a really slow latherers, never froth, and feel nice.

The gentle Wolfie with the big gap was a joy to use as always, but now it’s time to take the early train for a meeting with customers who live in very inconvenient time zones. Such is life.
