While I appreciate what they’re trying to do, the aesthetics are very much “hackerspace afficionado”. Logi could presumably bring premium materials and finishing to a “forever mouse”.

In my experience, mice don’t really break since optical tracking replaced rollerballs.

What does happen is that the exterior gets grody and the glidepads wear out.

A true “forever mouse” would be one where the stuff that gets worn out is easy to clean or replace. Ideally the tracking unit itself can be replaced, although that might be excessive.

For Logitech to produce a mouse like this, however, would require them to make a multi-decade commitment to supply parts and specs, which is basically just a cost sink in today’s world.

Let’s just say that negative numbers remains a mystery for LLMs.

I’m pretty sure that if the community “takes out the trash” (i.e. downvotes to dead status[1]) the mods won’t bother to ban the user.

Previous workplace merged with a US company that among other things offered “sentiment analysis” for call centers - the software was supposed to detect if someone was upset or irate. Could be used to help employees deal with irate customers, but could also detect if an employee was rude or stressed. Same software could be used to ensure employees used certain stock phrases like “welcome to InitTech, how may I help you?”

Point is, tech has been used to enforce conformity since well forever.

FWIW we have our own word for people who try to hijack the judicial system with spurious lawsuits etc: rättshaverist (“justice wrecker”). I don’t believe the Roman/German law system really meshes well with the SovCit movement in common law systems, but I’m sure people are trying to apply it.
