These are all great suggestions and I concur. Education will be much more individualized. I prefer a competency (some folks here use ‘results based’ which is analogous, also sometimes called ‘strengths based’) focused education process.

Also, education will no longer be seen as a thing separate from life/work. Education isn’t something you finish then go to work, it’s a thing you incorporate into your whole life. Solarpunk society values simplicity but solarpunk society is more complex and demands a bit more from people. The solarpunk dream is that these demands are balanced by a healthy reward of a functional supporting social system.

We have had few overt attempts to intimidate voters in Colorado. Candidates don’t get to just pick their voting locations. That’s a very complex decision that involves multiple overlapping government and volunteer organizations.

No, the enemy here isn’t MAGAts flexing at a polling place, it’s apathy among the general populace. A major part of our efforts is just educating people about how it all works, not necessarily getting them to vote a certain way. Finding someone who is willing to engage more fully in the process is how we measure success.

I volunteer for a local Democratic Party board and we are seeing an uptick in volunteer interest quite early. We are preparing by improving our processes so early volunteers get trained well in hopes we have a bigger army for GOTV efforts closer to the general election.

It is interesting. I think the negative perception here comes from the fact that ‘street smarts’ are often contrasted with ‘book smarts’. It is frequently expressed along with other anti-intellectual sentiments and is too often racially-tinged.

Calling a minority that in a ‘book-smart’ profession in the US is a tone-deaf party foul at best. I think the term ‘back-handed compliment’ is apropos.

Calling a highly educated person in a profession that requires that education ‘street smart’ denigrates that education and that person’s accomplishments.
