Grocery shopping and food prep is always an option. Cheaper and healthier too.
If you have time to browse Lemmy, you got time to throw some shit in an air fryer/insta pot/slow cooker.
Jesus, it’s like they want you to order online from a third party instead of paying them.
The argument I keep seeing against fast food being too expensive is “use the app! It’s cheaper”. Fuck that. I bought frozen junk food and an air fryer. McDonald’s can keep their 15$ meals*
*Disclaimer that I don’t actually know how much a meal is these days, but I know it’s gone way up. Also, I do still buy from McD when I need to shit out a hangover. Sue me.
There’s also a non zero amount of people that don’t like being home. Whether it’s the spouse or the kids they’re avoiding, WFH makes it harder to avoid whatever is going on at home.
Just my gut feeling, but I’m gonna guess lots of c suite rich dudes would rather have a reason to be away from their wives and kids than being at home working. And there’s no cute coworkers to creep on either if everyone is home!
I’ve had regular co-workers not leave the office early when everyone else was because they didn’t want to “have to watch the kid(s) alone”.
I didn’t think about the “ambassador” angle. It probably is harder to get employees to drink the company koolaid when they’re not physically in the office.
Because no one agreed to pay that when they were ordering. Imagine being a on budget for a night out and getting this extra charge outta nowhere
You admit that you’re posting what are essentially lies in order to attract conservatives? Y’all really are just saying the quiet part out loud.
There’s so many idiots that are in unions and removed about them, but for some reason refuse to leave the union.
People are really really dumb
People working from home aren’t consuming much anymore.
Of course there’s commercial property leases and micromanaging bosses, but I think the uptick in this messaging is in response to people spending less money.
Less money on cars, gas, clothes, eating out, fancy coffee, hair/nails, dry cleaning, kid/animal care, gym (?), and probably so much more that I’m not thinking of.
And when we do spend money on those things, they’re lasting longer and we’re getting more discerning. When I do consider spending money on eating out, I’ll def choose going hungry over getting something lower quality.
What’s the value of posting “fluff”? If you’re just trying to get engagement for engagement sake, why?
I’d check his post history before engaging. He’s trying to rebuild a spammy, dishonest right wing space in Lemmy.
He’s free to do so, but it’s just going to bring in trolls, bots, bad faith arguments, and extreme posting to sell shit.
I get that it’s inevitable, but let’s be careful what we’re encouraging.
In the eyes of a search engine, yes.
But once a site is popular enough for traffic and engagement to influence it’s position in search, it’s def going to be popular enough for bots, trolls, bad faith actors, grifters, etc.
Google isn’t thrilled with duplicate content. Following this thread here, it sounds like identical content might be hosted on multiple servers? If that is so, it’s not going to be high value in Google’s eyes.
If it’s indexed, you’ll be able to search it with Boolean modifiers, but it might not get priority in organic searches.
I don’t think lack of SEO is the issue. There’s just not enough content and brand/domain authority to get results from here high in SERPS.
There might be something fediverse related that would affect performance in search, but I’m not knowledgeable enough about this setup to speak to it.
I think it’s just lack of content, general awareness/interest, and longevity that’s keeping Lemmy low in search
I could see myself doing the same, but I only browse mobile. Without a decent app, it’s just not happening.
However, Lemmy now feels like the super early days of Reddit and I don’t want to give that up.
Just real conversations, normal comments, none of the repeated Reddit jokes in every thread, and minimal right wing trolling
We don’t want to be in the public eye. Let’s enjoy what we have while it lasts
Being purposely obtuse is exhausting, makes you look like an idiot, doesn’t help make your point, and isn’t nearly as effective here as it is on all the other platforms.

Who tf is upvoting this? It’s highly unlikely this person has the acreage, time, equipment, and knowledge to grow all their own food.
Even if they did, it’s not a real solution to the vast majority of people.
