I hope I didn’t overwhelm you with all the suggestions! I just got super excited about this idea and started looking stuff up lol. Let’s talk more soon, but no rush.

I’d definitely be up for what you suggested. Also, The House in Fata Morgana was one I was planning on playing soon and that doesn’t have voice acting. That might be a good one. Coffee Talk Episode 1 and 2 look like good options. I also found this page that has a list of all VNs with women protagonists and includes ratings: https://vndb.org/g134?f=01112gen&l=&m=0&p=1&s=24w Looks like there’s endless options to choose from tbh. What would also be really cool is if we could find someone who’s transmasc and who wants to play the masculine characters.
EDIT: Higurashi also looks like something that could work. Is also spoopy and October is around the corner.
EDIT #2: I found another potential option. The Monster Prom games have a “Make Your Own Voices” option at the beginning so seems like they’re totally made for what we have in mind.
I’m not familiar with that one, but it sounds cool. I’d totally be down.
Was it sort of similar to the feeling you get when you’re tickled? If so, maybe it could be just a nerve or something?
Awesome! We should definitely discuss this more and then maybe set something up if we can get enough people together.
Related, another idea I just had is to stream non-voiced VNs and act out the parts.
I think this sort of stuff is appealing to me because it’s fun, but I also have this strong urge to be expressive when I’m using a fem voice and that’s hard to do when reciting lines or sounds with no context.
So I binge watched Punch Line this weekend, and I kinda sorta loved it, despite the overly lewd and fanservicey humor. Here’s the plot summary from MAL:
After escaping a bus hijacking with the help of masked superhero Strange Juice, Yuuta Iridatsu finds his soul separated from his body and in the care of a perverse cat spirit, Chiranosuke. As a spirit, Yuuta wanders around his residence, the Korai House, aiming to regain his body and observe the other residents: Meika Daihatsu, a genius inventor; Mikatan Narugino, a cheerful idol; Ito Hikiotani, a shut-in NEET; and Rabura Chichibu, a spiritual medium. After catching a glimpse of Narugino’s undergarments, Chiranosuke reveals to Yuuta that he becomes exponentially stronger upon seeing panties. However, if he sees another pair while he is still a spirit, his power will cause an asteroid to crash into the earth, ending the world and killing his friends.
Punch Line follows Yuuta as he unravels the mysteries surrounding Korai House, its residents, and a villainous organization attempting to end the world. Will Yuuta be able to save everyone, or will the ever-present threat of panties result in their doom?
I realize that sounds maybe kinda trashy from the description, and it is, but it also has a pretty great plot and characters imo. Plot involves ghost possession, time travel, strange bear cubs that magically heal themselves, mechs, sketchy genetic research labs, fax machines that send messages through time, hilariously bad American English accents, weird talking cats, ETERNAL FRIENDSHIP, and much much more. Also the main character is trans masc and some of the gender swap elements are handled reasonably well imo. If you can stomach all the panty jokes, it’s well worth checking out in my opinion.
So question for both you and @Josephine_Spiro@hexbear.net, would you all be interested in maybe doing something group related for voice training? A couple of ideas I have:
PSA: If you’re having any issues with funds related to transitioning, don’t hesitate to reach out using the mutual aid comm! That’s what it’s there for and plenty of people here would be willing to help, including me. I talked this over informally with some of the other mods and we came up with these simple guidelines for making those kinds of posts:
Also, given that some of the resources out there use litecoin, you can also request donations to a litecoin wallet which may help you skip some otherwise tedious steps.
Since I started transitioning and spending more time in trans spaces online, I’ve noticed it’s sadly common for trans people to encounter issues getting what they need, especially in certain US states or countries like the UK that are attempting to cut off gender affirming care. So, I wanted to highlight that this is always an option available to those who need it.
If anyone has any feedback or anything to add to this, please let me know.
This is a great and very informative comment, and seems to match what I’ve been seeing reading through zines and other stuff on https://www.digitaltransgenderarchive.net/ “Transsexual” definitely seemed like the more common term for most of the 20th century even into the 1990’s, though it also does seem like “transgender” starts to get used more around that time.
fyi, I thought of this last night when I was using a pair of scissors to cut a pizza I baked, since that seems like a very Bean thing to do.
Ok, hear me out: Transfem Mr. Bean. “Miss Bean” if you will.
Damn, my day/week has sucked so far. Work bullshit, car problems, and generally feeling like ass. I did have one good thing happen, which was a small step towards a massive and very positive thing. I just have to wait like a month and a half, then I’ll be done with all the current nonsense.
You’re in this pic too??!?! I could have sworn this was me earlier this year.
Yeah sadly no trans rep here afaik It does seem decent anyways though after reading into it a little.
I also saw this recommended, which… Might be?: https://mangadex.org/title/7cd3ca23-2d70-4c03-99f0-b1ee848c4dc4/yakuza-reincarnation I’d never heard of this before, but it looks interesting.
Sort of related but I found this manga that’s super cute so far: https://chapmanganato.to/manga-py993133
That’s understandable. For me, I just try to pick up on whatever the current convo is, or I just start talking about some niche interest I have that no one probably cares about.
Also for me, it’s just amazing to be a girl and hang out with other girls. Like, I don’t know how I survived so long without being able to experience this.
scene shows me running in slow motion as a car explodes behind me
Fem narrator voice with thick Brooklyn accent: “As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a lesbian.”
I’m kinda the same way tbh (attracted to relatively fem men and not so much masculine men) and I definitely consider myself bi or pan. It took me many years for my repressed brain to allow that, so I also just like leaving who I’m attracted to open on a case by case basis.
Dammit, we’ve been found out. Clogging people’s toilets is part of the secret trans agenda but now the whole world knows.
