Oh i thought it said RS. Man someone should learn to crop their memes

I do think it’s a good idea to do what you did and just try it as is, since there’s actually a pretty decent chance that it just works.
However, if it doesn’t work, i would check everything as if i’m building the PC from scratch. Are the parts compatible (good old pcpartpicker is here for that), is the PSU sufficient, is everything plugged in the way the manuals say, etc
So let me get this straight: they cut down the forest, plant palm trees, harvest it for i guess a few years, and then… plant the forest back? How does that make sense just on any level?
I mean at least i happen to know it doesn’t make sense on an ecological level as a new groth forest is massively different from an old growth forest, so the new forest is no replacement for the old one.
Also i’m not sure if you understand what an argument from ignorance is? It’s not an ignorant argument, it’s a specific type of logical fallacy. The observation that no extractive industry has proven sustainable is a predictor that they’re unlikely to prove sustainable in the future.
I’m gonna have to nuance that: while palm oil is an environmental disaster, it is in fact the most efficient vegetable oil in terms of land area per ton of finished product. This is because the the plant that produces it is incredibly productive, more than sunflowers or rapeseed.
So changing to other vegetable oils would result in more land area being cultivated overall.
Any statement that boils down to “this extractive industry is environmentally sustainable” is massively suspicious. I don’t trust that statement at all. I don’t buy that you can produce palm oil on that scale while respecting nature.
I have all of the Billboard Top 100’s for every year from 1950 to 2009. When i downloaded it i thought that litterally every popular song i’ve heard of would be on there.
Not only are there a lot missing, there’s so so much crap. It turns out bland generic love ballads have sold really well throughout the decades, and genuinely memorable songs are a lot fewer than 100 a year. Not even to mention all the ones that don’t chart. Sure 1957 had Elvis’s Jailhouse Rock, but you know what else it had? Elvis’s Loving You, Elvis’s Love Me, and Jerry Lewis’s “Rock-a-Bye Your Baby with a Dixie Melody”. Cool. Thanks for that, Billboard.
Overall there’s a tremendous survivorhip bias. By definition we only remember the memorable songs, which gives the illusion that everything was memorable.
But also, having grown up in the 2000’s, i really think it’s one of the worst decades for music. So much so that i was into 60’s rock back then, and in the 2010’s i was into the new wave of thrash metal, literally one of the most regressive genres there are. I wasn’t alive for the 80’s, i didn’t like the video games or the movies and didn’t participate in virtually any of the 80’s nostalgia that was trendy at the time, but i did prefer the music to anything my current decade had to offer.
Yeah but what percentage of air traffic controllers are women? Those that are will have to coordinate a lot more landings than usual.
I know we are the BetterThanReddit website, but let’s not act like Lemmy is immune from this
All of this is cuckoo. I don’t know what it is about the audiophile market that makes it full of stuff like this. Them calling it “proprietary”, being vage about “minerals and fluids” involved and assuring us that their techniques “took years to develop”, is red flag language that i’ve heard over and over again.
Also this article is written like crap.
Yeah i’ve learned not to trust this kind of simmetrical worldview, even when it makes me feel smart for being above it.
While it’s true that he campained pretending to be pro-union, his actual actions show the opposite. See the 2022 railroad strike
That’s really clever, i didn’t think of it.
Also Trump won’t be on the ballot in some states (Illinois is in the news today for this reason), that could also be an opportunity for her - unless i misunderstand the american electoral system, which honestly i do most of the time
On the one hand, this is true, you gotta vote for the lesser of two evils.
But also, there are only two candidates.
So now it’s this shitty situation where US voters just have to vote Biden no matter what, he can do anything and there will never be consequences electorally. And i really feel like there should be consequences for supporting a genocide.
This is my answer. There’s like a 1% chance that someone i know would find out and i’m not taking it
Well no, because the old sub will continue to exist and will therefore always be where everyone goes until Reddit itself dies. I really doubt admins would let me delete the sub.
I feel like AI companies have been scraping Reddit for their datasets already since the beginning and without permission. In fact, unless there’s been a regulation change that i’m not aware of, i’m not sure why they would have Reddit “sign away” the data when they can just scrape it.
Also dubious if the current form of AI has a future. They seem like they should revolutionize every sector when you look at their capacities, but in practice their applications might be more limited than we thought?
Anyway, if Reddit does go public i will be deleting my account within the hour. The only reason i haven’t yet is that i’ve been a moderator of the same subreddit for eight years and it’s the only thing that’s been consistent in my life in that time, i’m kind of attached. The reason i will is i didn’t sign up to create value for shareholders, i signed up to create value for a community.
Ok but what’s your argument against autosave? You haven’t made one?
I would have sworn that autosave was enabled by default in absolutely every software that has anything to save since like the 2000s, you’re throwing me on a loop here.
As far as text editors actually, i feel like they may be constantly saving, particularly if they’re cloud-based. But i’ve been using LibreOffice for a while so i wouldn’t know. (and yes i did have to enable autosave)
It’s true that such a bill was introduced, but wacky bills are introduced all the time. This is proposed legislation, they haven’t even voted on it yet, and it’s extremely unlikely to pass.
But i think it’s also true that you can tell where legislator’s minds are based on what wacky bills they introduce.
Just in general villages aren’t sustainable, even on flat ground. They will absolutely get overrun by zombies within a few nights unless the player intervenes.
Also, if i recall correctly, the butcher’s hut has their smoker generate with a solid block above it; this is a problem because villagers can’t use job site blocks that have a solid block above them. So this butcher eventually becomes a regular villager.
So in a few different ways, villages as they are generated are unsustainable. And there’s too many of them, there’s an argument that the world feels way too populated where the vibe of Minecraft’s world once was sheer solitude
