Most “pranks” are just a) terribly unfunny, b) actually bullying by another name, or c) both.

If we could just keep the rare good ones I’d be all for it, but alas!

The birds here are really confused lately and have just been singing all night without a break, it’s driving me crazy.

As a European, I’d read about this phenomenon and assumed it was just a sort of vaguely reminiscent hint of a taste. Because surely nobody would be eating it if it tasted strongly of vomit.

Was given a free sample of Hershey’s in Chicago once. Didn’t taste of anything at all it was just weird and waxy. So much for that!

Yeah I made it maybe halfway down the street before the taste kicked in. For any other non-US folks who think it’s an exaggeration, it is not. Literally tasted like I’d thrown up in my mouth, not just a bit like it but literally like vomit.

My minor life advice is do not accept handouts of Hershey’s chocolate!

I’ve not “used” it but for some reason they’ve decided to include one of my accounts in their gaming feed so I checked it out.

Just seemed like a too-broad-to-be-useful repost bot, although apparently there are real people “curating” too. Why they’d repost my inane ramblings if it’s actually human-curated, I do not know.

I do however know quite a few people who blocked them already since it just looks at first glance like complete spam. Like most Fedi stuff, they could probably do with communicating better what it is they’re actually trying to do.

Bit of a weird one, I use the default UI myself and haven’t had any issues with it. But maybe if you can post a pic it’ll help us figure out what’s going on?

The problem it solves is that typing on a phone is annoying, and that’s a problem every other app has too.

The “problem” of people not being able to find you if you give them your handle instead? Based on recent experience of a lot of non-techy friends signing up and finding and following me with literally no problems, I’m pretty sure that isn’t a thing.

Inconviently located chores for most of tomorrow, then a big family thing for my gran’s birthday on Sunday. Honestly not sure which day I’m looking forward to the least. Hoping to find room for some crafts and some videomaking at…some point in there somewhere? 🤷‍♀️

Someone from my old secondary school tried to organise one a few years ago. I figured it might be fun in a cheesy sort of way, even though the only people I’d want to see are the ones I’m still in touch with and would have been going with anyway, and I doubt I’d remember most others at all.

Unfortunately it clashed with an NFL London game I really wanted to go to, and that was always going to win out! No regrets.

It’s how both platforms (and I assume the rest of fedi) work. If you follow an account from Mastodon, that your server has never seen before, it’ll be blank until new posts are made. That goes for other Mastodon accounts, Lemmy communities / users, Pixelfed accounts, PeerTube channels, etc etc.

If you subscribe to a Lemmy community, and your Lemmy server has never seen that community before, same thing. Blank until new posts.

It caused a lot of confusion and tech support last summer but now that most servers know about most other ones I guess it’s not as common to run into these days :D

I’m all over the Fediverse under this name and also @TeaHands@lemmy.world so could be either tbh. I did a lot of tech support in the early days of the big migration here :D

Short answer: no.

Pixelfed only shows media posts, so if you’re following a Mastodon account you will see any posts made with images attached but not text-only ones.

The blank feed is just because nobody from your Mastodon server was following this account yet. Works the same as following any other new-to-your-server Masto account in that respect, but it should start showing new posts made since you followed.

I know exactly what you mean, my IG had started going that way around certain world events before I quit logging in there. Which was interesting because I’d moved to IG originally to get away from it on Facebook! These things are inevitable, it seems.

There are just too many terrible injustices in this world for us to hold on to the fury about all of them all the time.

That is very true and for a moment I debated taking a selfie holding up a message, AMA-style. But ultimately I was too lazy so I guess we’ll never know for sure 😉

Had a very good day thank you, despite not really doing anything majorly out of the ordinary. Just on with the weekly Top of the Pops watchalong on Mastodon now, after a day of fiddling with code and cross stitch and meeting cute dogs while out on a walk. Not bad going, really! 😄
