Hello comrades and welcome to the fourth and last improvement megathread of October!
As usual, some discussion ideas:
- Do you want to share something you’ve done in the previous week? Everything counts, nothing is too small.
- Do you have any goals or plans for next week?
- Do you have any streaks? For example, “sober for one day.” Feel free to post your streak every day in this thread.
- If you don’t have a continuous streak, did you manage to abstain from something for a day or more?
- Did you come across some useful information or resource that might help others?
Poster caption: “You will not strangle the freedom of the Arab peoples!”
Good luck with your goals!

i started flossing
always thought it sounded silly - like, people hundreds of thousands of years ago didn’t have the means for flossing (presumably). I brush, surely that’s enough? Of course, people hundreds of thousands of years ago didn’t have such sugary bread… and I guess if every dentist recommends it, there must be something to it.

Back in my day, we called that cake
That’s awesome, I aspire to become the type of guy who flosses regularly. To me that’s the ultimate sign that somebody has their shit together. Maybe I should check out those water flossers, they seem more fun to use.
I’ve had really good progress in calisthenics this week. Unlocked archer pullups and archer pushups with good form, and my one handed dead hang is improving dramatically, along with false grip strength on the rings. I’ve been pretty consistent with it for months now, about three days a week, sometimes less cause rest is great and it’s never worth hurting yourself. Random people in the gym are commonly walking up and asking me about the stuff I’m doing and how i got where I’m at, which is cool. And I cut the sleeves off a free Palestine shirt to really embrace the
This week was pretty good. While not fully back on the wagon I was pretty limited with my drinking. No more starting at 7am and continuing on all day. I didn’t drink at all a few days and then only drank in social settings in the times I did drink.
I helped a friend of mine film a movie. The process was really interesting to see in person. I would love to do more stuff like that since interacting with so many new people was really good for my brain.
I also started lifting again this week. My legs are currently jello from squatting. On top of being bigger and stronger in a general sense, one of my goals is to have a thick, dump truck of an ass just to frustrate the various hetero women and gay men in my life. This is endlessly funny to me
- really tired/exhausted every day to the point of falling asleep the dinner table, no clear reason
- walked shorter but walked, except one day where i got stuck binging TV
- ate well until the weekend, when it was very basic sandwiches for both lunch and dinner
- 2 porn binges
- did laundry and put in the wardrobe
- bought groceries
- bought some nice cheap used clothes
- did some rare accidental housework and repairs
W list time:
-
I haven’t had an alcoholic drink in almost a month. I just wanted to take it to one drink a week but I’m finding I don’t need it. I just get some flavored sparkling water from the store and I’m good.
-
I have a job interview coming up, the first one in a long time. It doesn’t pay all that great and I’ll have to relocate, but the important part is I just might be able to leave my parents basement and live in a slightly less fashy part of the great satan. I really hope it goes well because I can start my life in earnest, go out there make some friends have some fun and for God’s sake just touch grass. Ever since I lost my old “permanent” job I’ve practically lived on this site
-
I actually visited a cousin. I’m not going to dox him or me, but he lives in a rather walkable progressive part of the country and it made me realize that it can be done, but it’ll take a lot of effort to essentially cure myself of being the walking neckbeard stereotype that I am.

Getting my ass beat by reality. I refuse to give. I’m in my “Building emotional and spiritual resilience” arc
Stay strong comrade, you got this
This past week I went running on 2 days and hiking on 2 days. It was a good week for getting my steps in, I did 70k steps total, that’s 8km per day.
Next week I want to go running at least once or twice and touch grass with friends
