Reminds me of the Edith Macefield house, in Ballard (Seattle, WA).
.
If you’re ever in Ballard, I highly recommend the excellent cocktail bar Hazelwood, which pays tribute to her with a namesake cocktail (the Edith Macefield).
I would hope so… If you go to a league that has been won by your club 11 times in a row and don’t win a trophy, something has gone horribly wrong.
I think he’ll play like normal. It would be pretty insane to pass up the Bayern offers and then sit Kane for the year. That would (a) guarantee that he leaves next year, eliminating any small hope that he stays, and (b) mean that you’re getting no value for Kane while also getting none of the reward that you would have gotten by selling him now.
I am guessing it’s in the range of £100-125m. Bayern seem to have overplayed their hand a bit, thinking that Levy would feel the need to sell regardless of price, and coming in with multiple bids under the asking price. I wouldn’t be shocked if they blink and pay up, but it seems like Levy may be content to keep him. If he goes for free next year, it’s a lot of potential revenue lost, but Spurs are in fine financial shape (it’s not a Barca situation). And Levy seems to think that there’s some small chance that he stays & signs a new contract, if the year with Ange goes well and he likes the direction of the team. Seems remote to me unless Spurs win the league or something absurd like that happens.
Weston McKennie involved throughout the buildup and with the assist! 🇺🇲🤝🇺🇲
I gotta say, the rest of the team looks like they are having a blast. It has to be surreal & so much fun to know that you’re going to train with & play alongside the greatest player of all time.
As somebody with a kid on the west coast, these match times are killing me. There’s just no way to watch. Maybe a few years ago I would have rearranged my whole sleep schedule, but I just can’t anymore…
I wish they could have swung something like 10P pacific (I know, still not great for the east coast, but it’s not like a lot of people are tuning in at 5am). That would have been a reasonable 7AM in Sweden and 3 PM in Melbourne. Even 11P pacific would be a bit better.
My Chromecast does… That works pretty well, but the android phone experience is still hot garbage
I think the last match made it obvious - Julie Ertz needs to play in the midfield. We were getting overrun, and had no ability to connect through the middle either. Ceding the middle of the pitch from box to box just isn’t going to work - no matter who plays CB. I have faith in Alana Cook - run her out, put Ertz in the midfield. Having Rose Lavelle back for longer stretches will also help control the game. But the current lineup basically says “let’s strengthen the back line but invite lots of pressure”, which is a recipe for allowing goals and limits the effectiveness of the attack.
Interesting choice for MLS to highlight one Sounders player who is limited due to a knee injury and another who is out after having sustained another concussion during the last match…
I’m no master tactician, but I feel like they might want to play this new #10 guy a little tighter.
Yeah - it’s basically great for the subset of people who are already MLS fans and who own Apple devices. For newcomers who aren’t Apple users / want MessiTV, I seriously think that this user experience would be enough to turn them off.
Lineup:
get Dani Alves out of prison
😂😂😂
I liked the MLS - Liga MX format… Why not keep doing that?
In any case, taking a bunch of players who don’t regularly play together and putting them up against one of the best teams in England is a recipe for disaster, as last night showed. Not good for the league, no fun for anybody to watch.
Or put Suarez on a TAM contract, Gareth Bale style?
So I think Alba is coming in on a non-DP contract - Suarez too?
The Athletic has a good rundown of how the deal came about (paywall).

Leaked image of the special rig that Messi will be wearing while playing:
Yeah, even though slow motion makes it look worse, I was shocked that it wasn’t given in real time. But the commentary team was convinced that it was just a natural body position. I continue to have no idea what constitutes a handball in the box.
