The only multiplayer games I’ve ever enjoyed were the early days of Ace of Spades and Tribes Ascend. Shazbot.

Yeah and it also comes down to your DM and how much of a combat focus they have. Back when I was a GM for shadowrun my players were encouraged to meticulously plan every combat encounter, sometimes so well they didn’t have to fight at all. That’s always fun.

To be fair most games don’t make failure fun. In a real life TTRPG, a character with low skills in everything is probably more fun than some god character with perfect 20s. It makes for interesting stories. But video games have a hard time replicating that, I guess

There are very few games where you can go wild with your skill points and still make it through the game in an interesting way. Disco Elysium is a good one. There is no good build and min/maxing is detrimental since your inner voices will start feeding you misinformation at higher levels.

I really like Dark Souls 2 as well. Equip two shields, power stance with daggers, use a whip, anything’s viable if you want it to be.

Also I tend to use lightning stuff in Kor! I really like how all the element type things are good, but lightning is just so cool. I hope you feel better soon goadstool :(

I really enjoyed Sable, cool exploration game with a lovely artstyle and my favorite soundtrack in years.

Also really enjoy Balatro, Void Stranger, Norco, Last Call BBS, and Cloudpunk. (Really looking forward to Nivalis!)

I don’t know exactly what happened, but I had heard that particular subreddit kept having repeated instances of infighting and the mods weren’t too great at handling it. I think much of their userbase has moved along to other things. The antiwork subreddit has had a lot of clout lately I guess.

Yeah Tucker should have been thrown off the air years ago for hate speech, not just talking to a Russian. Talking to Putin is nothing compared to the years of transphobic racist drivel he’s spewed. It’s such a clear bias in what free press in America actually entails.

That doesn’t feel right. Most of the time the game is something incredibly simple, like counting or moving blocks around, and the ad is showing someone playing it incredibly poorly. Like too poorly to be real, like they can’t count to a number like six or can’t move the triangle in a circle hole. I’ve always felt that’s supposed to frustrated the viewer, who will then want to download the game to play it correctly. But by then they realize it’s not even the same game that’s in the advertisement.

Star Trek is one of the things I still hang onto as optimistic about the future. We can make a better world for everyone and overcome racism, capitalism, transphobia, etc. We can build something better and reach for the stars. And that’s always been the message. The characters have advanced technology like ships and teleporters, but what’s really advanced is how they are as people. They’re curious, educated, accepting people who want to explore the universe for the sake of it.

I also hang onto the X-Men. That was also important to me growing up, seeing how the characters could come together to defend themselves against hatred. I grew up in a really conservative area so I’m always gonna be grateful to Star Trek and X-Men (and later all sorts of books) for keeping me sane as a kid

There’s the Oculus stattion in NYC which is ok, but I hate the building it’s connected to. It’s one of only a handful of nice stations though. Half of the NYC metro looks like Silent Hill.

That was lemmy.world. Beehaw was federated for a while but then if I remember right kept saying we’re not actually trans/gay friendly because we’re too tankie. Then they kept insulting one of our admins, who is a trans woman herself. Like they’d say we’re faking how queer we are. Then it turns out they have a really bad chaser problem and a bunch of our trans posters kept getting death threats or weird stalkers from over there. Also they’re so anti-tankie they occasionally swerve into outright saying reactionary stuff. They also like saying slurs.

Climate change is killing people currently. It’s not some far off distant event outside of our lifetimes. It’s already happening and causing worldwide problems. We already passed the crossroads. Every year is hotter than the last, every year breaks records in terms of storm severity. This impacts people in poor, underdeveloped nations the most.

A possible extinction event isn’t the only thing we need to worry about. The other problems of climate change are already here.
