I bought a skirt. crush I am currently wearing a skirt crush for the first time in my entire life.

It’s sort of the same colour and material as one of those goofy army jackets you get. It’s floofy and full of ruffles and stuff, ankle length. When I first saw it I thought, that’s a skirt worn by a fashion criminal. But I brought it home and I’m wearing it, I have it paired with a white/blue plaid flannel and a form fitting tank top. Currently vibing.

I hope this isn’t too much of an invasive question, but what was your process for buying it? I’m mainly worried about 1) people seeing me in the women’s clothing section/changing rooms of a store and giving me shit about it and 2) having to try on multiple sizes to figure out what mine is, which could require me to constantly go back and forth between the sales floor and changing rooms, which could exacerbate the first problem I mentioned.

No worries! Lmao I marched right into the women’s section, this was after looking for sleep shorts among all the lingerie and stuff.

Uh I would say one, measure your waist/hips with a measuring tape if you can, and compare skirts against that. Two, you can usually bring a few into a changing room at once, like at least three. Also I would hope nobody would be an asshole at you for shopping in the women’s section, or buying skirts. People do not care, in my experience at least. At a thrift store in particular it’s whatever usually, very neutral comfortable environment.

I really don’t have reservations shopping anywhere for anything anymore, when I was six months on hormones I walked into a La Senza and bought a bunch of panties, because Idrc. Not sure what kind of environment or town you are in, fwiw.

Wtf you’ve never worn a skirt before???

Also what the fuck is that description it is breaking my brain trying to figure out what it looks like.

Ankle length skirts are lovely though, nice that you enjoy them. Underrated tbh.

I have literally never worn a skirt before, I do not own any skirts or dresses. First time!

It’s funny, I should combine it with my green army jacket, it’s rad. Very light flowy material.

They are, but now I have to lift the fucker to go up stairs? And it really has no pockets, holy fuck the only pockets I have are my flannel’s chest pockets.

Would probably work well. You got approval from transmega fashion weirdo #4

Yeahhh… Purses exist for a reason, I still need to get one myself instead of carrying an old bag everywhere I go

I have several purses, I ain’t gonna wear a purse around the house!! Even my skinny jeans have enough pocket to carry a multitool! Death to america!

You do need a purse tbh, they are fun ✨

I’m #4 because idk it was funnier that way. Also I feel like I only recently became fashion nerdy so others who post less have seniority over me and thereby smaller numbers.

What I sometimes do is wearing women’s shorts underneath a skirt with an open side, that way I can use the pockets of it for my multitool and keys… But then I get annoyed at it ruining my fit when they’re in so I throw them into my bag anyways.

I just haven’t found one I like enough yet tbh.

I agree that’s insane. Maybe I just have good parents that let me play dress up, but you’ve been transitioning for years, right? How? Anyway, some skirts are pretty great. Skorts may have pockets. A long sleeve shirt can supply your pockets. I have a few dresses with pockets. Some of my shorts don’t have pockets or I don’t trust them biking anyway, so I sometimes wear a fanny pack. I get why you [seem to be] such a good butch if you’ve barely stuck your toes into “fem” stuff.

Almost ten. Ever consider that someone might not want to or wouldn’t feel comfortable?

I guess most times it wouldn’t matter, if I’m out I’ve got my purse and if I’m working on something at home I’m wearing sweats. I was advised to get a fanny pack actually.

why you [seem to be] such a good butch

Did I just get diagnosed butch? brow also is it really “barely stuck your toes into fem stuff” if I don’t wear skirts? Are skirts required to be fem?

            • Ever consider that someone might not want to or wouldn’t feel comfortable?

I mean, I’m not much of a fan of skirts and uncomfortable trying on clothes from the women’s section, and I’ve still at least tried a skirt in a store like a year before touching HRT, if for no other reason than the meme. So kinda surprising someone who is a lot more confidence with that kind of thing didn’t at least try one on at some point earlier.

One of my eariest photos post-starting-hrt is me holding up a gothy skirt in a changing room and eyeing it suspiciously. I did not trust it basically. I don’t do memes comfy-cool except sometimes lel

I was just confident dressing in jeans I guess, so between that and being incapable of tucking, I just became trousers gang. I did wear a dress to prom but that’s all, I do a kind of futch thing.

Ack, am I unintentionally being offensive again? I just say the quickest way to say things sometimes and it’s not always post-gender-pilled.

Ever consider that someone might not want to or wouldn’t feel comfortable?

Yeah, not everyone likes skirts and I can imagine someone less lucky than me not having the confidence to try something at a thrift shop or hand-me-down. I just think it’s “a pity” that you haven’t had the chance until now to see if you like it.

Did I just get diagnosed butch?

No, you’re gay right? And your tank top/jacket/pants makes me think “banger butch fit.”

Are skirts required to be fem?

No, dresses and skirts are just traditional feminine clothes. You can be “feminine” in other ways, it just, again, surprises me you haven’t had the opportunity to try it.

Sorry if I’m somehow still offensive.

Well you can find solace in that this isn’t even the most appalling gaffe I’ve seen on this subject, lol.

that you haven’t had the chance until now

I’ve lived on my own since 2019 and been out to my parents for over a decade, just never seen a skirt I really liked and no reason to search for one. So no pity really :)

Uh yeah and I guess that would maybe be butch, maybe but not if you have curly hair down to your ass and a slight, effeminate form y’know?
